Work, Work, Work

It has been raining every day this week. Not the best thing to happen, but I guess rain is always a good thing. At least we're not in like, a drought. Anyways...today, I went to Wednesday recitals at 10, and was done at 11. I slept in my dorm for an hour and a half, but woke up like 5 times from the thunder. It was SO loud! After that, I went to my 1 o clock class, and my 3:30 class, and then I was done! Yayy.

I had to be in a town 20 minutes away at 5:30 for rehearsal. We had our concert at 6:30, and then we ate some food that they cooked us for dinner at 7:30. It was really really good. :)

Tomorrow, we leave at 6:30 AM <----- !!!!! Yeh. 6:30 am. Way too early. Butttt, we're singing at 7 schools I think between tomorrow and Friday, so we won't have voices on Saturday. Our first annual band banquet is also on Friday. We get back at 6, and I have to be there at 6 to help set up. (stress!) After that ends, I'll be done for the weekend. I think...well, I hope! haha. These past two weeks have been very stressful and  busy.

I'm going to get some sleep. Good night. :)

Lovely Friendships

Enjoy what you have, but don't be jealous of what you don't. Don't hope for something different, or wish things had turned out differently. Love your friends and family, and don't ever look back at who's hurt you or damaged something of yours. Thank those who hurt you, and let them know that they are only a lesson learned in your life. Be thankful, love, and let others love you.

When I was younger, I was one of those girls who didn't have a boyfriend until high school was almost over. I've only kissed one guy, and he is the guy I'll spend the rest of my life with. I'm glad I listened to others when they told me not to worry. "Your Mr. Right will come along one day, and you'll be glad when he does" is what they said. I didn't believe them, but eventually I shut my mouth and listened. Now I've realized that I have who I need in life. God has put me through enough to teach others how to handle what I've had to deal with. Sometimes when you're in the middle of a huge mess that you think will never get better, you have a realization. Usually it tells you how to get better.

James 1:12 says : "Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him."

I am not the kind of person who goes out and tries to push my religion on everyone, but when I believe something, I like to share it to a certain point. This bible verse has pushed me through so much. I know as a teenager, life is hard. Its hard to think as a teenager and get along with parents at the same time. Its hard to think everything you say is right, or maybe its hard to get your parents to understand. Maybe its hard because you are raising someone you shouldn't have to raise. Maybe you have to grow up way before you should have to, and its not the way normal people get to do it.

Love life. Enjoy what you have. Don't leave your friends because you have something better to do. If you have someone who will stick by your side when you are sick, or while you're going through a breakup...or maybe just comforts you when you've had a bad day and feel like crying...KEEP THEM. Don't lose a friend because you think  you can find someone better. Don't dump a boyfriend because there is one thing wrong with him. Everyone has mistakes. It's taken me a long time to realize I have to forgive and forgive and forgive again when someone hurts me.

Maybe this is a little too deep for you, but its how I felt. I think people need to be reminded every once in a while. I need to be reminded, and I know I have people to do that for me. Especially Hannah. I miss her so much...she used to be the person I would go to school and ask every question I could think about God. She didn't always know the answer, but she always steered me in the right direction. She's my best friend, and I'm glad I know that if something is wrong, I can talk to her no matter what. She doesn't live by me anymore...actually we live 5 hours apart, but I know that if I need direction I can talk to her. We've had our ups and downs, but I've forgiven her, and for some reason...she's forgiven me. (I think its because God told her to. ;) haha)

Anyways, I think my point is...love. Love everyone. Forgive everyone. Do what God says...you'll be happier.

P.S. I got an orange slip of paper today leaving my dorm. Basically, people were telling us not to let people 'tailgate' into the dorm. So...don't open the door and let others in. [I just wanted to put this in here...because my blog is a college blog, and I wanted to say...don't let strange people in your dorm. They could cause a LOT of trouble!] Okay. I'm done now. :)

The Planets

I feel like I haven't written in days, but its really only been 2 days. Yesterday was a visitation day for high schoolers, and they closed our dining hall off so only they could eat there. We were forced to go to the other one, and it doesn't have as much variety. Also, as Tori says, we feel like zoo animals because the high schoolers, their parents, and their brothers and sisters come and walk around campus and look at everything and look at us. Its just so weird.

I had rehearsal on Friday at 7 pm. Then we had it again on Saturday at 10:30. We had a concert last night at 8, and now we have another one, and I have to be there in 20 minutes. I really don't wanna go! All we do is stand backstage and sing some 'ahs'. I'll be okay though.

**EDIT: I woke up at 3, went to my concert, and then went to hang out with my bruhs & sorors. :) After that I came back to campus and watched a lot of Grey's Anatomy. [I'm up to season 7 now!] Now its time to watch ANTM, and then go to bed!

Tomorrow,  I have studio at 10 am, so I have to go to bed at a reasonable time tonight. I know I probably won't though. Anyways, I'm offa hereeee. G'night.

Clueless

Thursdays are always good for me because its the last day of classes before my weekend starts. This week is an exception though, because since my voice lesson got cancelled, I had to reschedule for tomorrow. I also have advising tomorrow, so I still have to get up. Oh well though. I should be going to sleep, but I just can't make myself go to sleep!

We have the tv turned on Disney - well, I have the tv turned on Disney - and I plan on watching it until I go to sleep. I can't go to sleep in the dark, and I just don't understand how people can go to sleep watching anything creepy or serious. Seriously - Disney is a good choice. haha :)

This is just about the shortest post ever.

Good night. :)

The Day Has Come

Recital was today. 22 minutes ago, actually. I did good, but just good, not great.

Now, I'm going to sit in my room & watch Grey's Anatomy until my 1:00 class. I love today Mondays & Wednesdays...they're the classes I like - Choir & Dance.
As you know, I did laundry yesterday. Usually, after I finish late at night, I'll leave it in my laundry bag and put it away during the next few days as I feel like it. Last night though, I managed to wash and put away FOUR loads of laundry. crazyyy. I have clean clothes now though. :)

I won a Rice Babies Baby Doll the other day from Ruffles and Stuff. :) Maybe I should go get a scratch off or something, because I don't EVER win anything. I'm feelin' lucky.

***14 hours later - I just got back from walmart with some of my sisters. We bought stuff for the sorority so we can decorate our bulletin board and make it pretty! :)

My voice lesson is cancelled tomorrow, so my first class isn't until 11:00. WOO! :)
I'm going to watch Grey's Anatomy & go to sleep :)))

P.S. I finally figured out how to change the time zone, so now it says the actual time that I post. :)

The Laundry Monster

I have come to realize that doing laundry is probably the worst thing to do in college. Its not like when you live with your parents. You can't just stick it in the washer and come back 2 hours later to put it in the dryer. And you definitely cannot just leave it in the dryer for someone else to pull out and put on the couch or fold for you.

Our laundry room that I'm in!

Washers take 25 minutes. Dryers take 40 minutes. (if your clothes are even dry by then) And yes, I do usually have to sit in here until everything is done because I'm afraid someone will steal something from me!
The washers & dryers are very old, and not taken care of. People leave panties, socks, and boxers in the machines because they don't check well enough to see if they got everything.

You have to learn what days are good to wash laundry, and what days are bad. Not only do you have to find which days are good, but you have to figure out what time of they day on that day is good. I'm in the biggest laundry room we have on campus, and usually when I come in here, I get one or two washers for 4 or 5 loads. Then I'll get one or two dryers for those same 4 or 5 loads. People push you out of the way, people leave things in the machines, and they usually don't even work right.

This year, my school grew by over 3 thousand students. With that, they had to make an upperclassmen dorm a freshman dorm. But, they also needed to build a new psychology building. What did they do...tear down half the dorm to build the new psychology building, and leave the other half for me and the other 99 lucky freshmen. Guess what was in the part they tore down? Yes...that would be our laundry room. So now, we get to walk across campus to whatever dorm will let us in to wash our clothes.

So, remember all those times I complained about laundry? That's why.

I'm lucky today though, I'm really the only one who's been in here consistently. Most of the other people washing laundry live in this dorm, so they can go back up to their room while its going. I'm alone, and its mostly quiet. I was watching Grey's Anatomy on Netflix (imagine that. ;)) but somehow, my sound stopped working...so here I am. :P

I'm almost done, and I am about to fold up my clothes, and hike back across campus. (its really not that big. haha) When I get back, I'll be putting my clothes away and going to bed. I have to be up at 8 tomorrow!!! Yes. 8 a.m. I don't ever get up that early.

I really don't know why I put this on here. But, I found it and liked it. So...yeh. :) [plus, its in my dorm & I'm washing that shirt...so its kinda related to the blog. haha]

Hope you're looking forward to college...and the wonderful laundry rooms. :)

Chicken Pot Pie

So, a few weeks ago when my mom came down here to visit for my birthday, she brought me this kit she got to make chicken pot pie. It came with 12 tortillas and 2 cans of chunky chicken. Since I didn't know how to make it, I've been putting it off. I do love some good chicken pot pie though, so I finally decided to make it! :) The crust was not as good as normal chicken pot pie, but one day I will buy everything to make it from scratch for real; for now though...you get to see how I made it in my dorm.

First, I set the oven to 350 degrees & got a medium-sized pot and poured in a can of cream of chicken (and a can of water), a small can of mixed peas and carrots, and half of a large can of corn. I put it on medium heat and stirred it for a few minutes. When it got close to boiling, I turned it on low heat, and put a lid on it.

Second, I got two paper towels, wet them (rung them out so they were just damp) and stuck a tortilla in the middle of them. Popped 'em in the microwave for about 25 seconds, and them molded them in the muffin pan.

Next, I filled the crusts with the mixture of veggies, chicken, and cream of chicken.

Last, I cut a small circle out of a tortilla to cover the top of the pie. (I couldn't get the crust to pinch together...because its only a tortilla. You're supposed to also cut slits in the top, but I did that on one and it broke. So I didn't do it on the other two.

I put it in the oven for about 15-20 minutes.

They're small, so you could probably eat 2. It ended up being REALLY good actually. I loved the crust on top because it was so crunchy. :) Hope you enjoy your own chicken pot pie!
